It seemed like a simple enough idea: a journalist working for NPR wanted to get Amazon (and other tech giants) out of her life completely for a week. The broader question that Kashmir Hill wanted to answer, was whether or not it was possible for us to detach ourselves from big technology companies if we so desired. The answer, unsurprisingly, seemed to be a resounding no.
